![]() The rent is high, and restaurants price accordingly. That is not ideal in my opinion, but it is the price one has to pay to eat in that area. The problem will be finding items we can share, or simply making certain we have room for leftovers in the freezer. Not certain how good the Caesar will be as a left over, but I am hoping it is just as good, if a bit wilted. We also asked for boxes for the salad we couldn’t eat. ![]() The pizzas are not huge, but we each took half of our pizza home. At least the meat pizza was, and my wife assures me hers was as well. Anyway, Fireside’s crust and Cornicione make it difficult to hold, but it is well worth the effort. (Just for fun, I checked to see if there is a name for the outer part of the crust. The pizzas are the paper thin crust with a large puffy outer edge. Entrees were the eggplant pizza and the “Premium Meat” pizza. Either they do not have a side salad, or the server chose not to offer side salads when it was clear we were ordering entrees as well. ![]() Both were excellent, and both would have served two. We both tried salads, my wife ordered the house, and I ordered the Caesar. The disappointments were not gustatorial in nature. It likely could have been, but the reality of being competitive on the near westside led to some disappointments. For clarity, the Fireside experience was not a five star experience. The rather short saga of how we shifted our focus from southwestern cuisine to whatever version of Italian cooking they practice at Fireside is not significant, other than we ended up at Fireside. We had a spur of the moment date night recently that started in one direction and ended up at Fireside Pies. Today, I am cautiously excited to think it might be worth the hype I’ve heard about it. In other words, I thought it belonged in Dallas or Austin, not Fort Worth. I always thought it was a pretentious under performer. I did eat there with family and friends who thought it was grand. Fireside Pies, in either of its previous incarnations, was not a place I frequented.
